Product Description

First printed as a dress fabric in 1967, Ianthe has become one of the most iconic designs to be associated with Liberty. A typical example of French Art Nouveau with its highly stylized flowers in a swirly pattern, it was originally created as a wallpaper border by the French designer Rene Beauclair in c.1902.  Ianthe is Greek for purple or violet flowers, suggesting that the flowers featured in the design may have originally drawn from violets.

The Liberty Legends Capsule

Liberty Legends is made up of archival designs from the 60s and 70s.  Featured in the archive book and worn by iconic musicians of the day, including Jimi Hendrix and Ginger Baker, these flamboyant prints have been revived by Liberty's in-house design team in bright, bold hues that pay homage to their origin.  A celebration of Liberty's legendary print archive, this collection is exclusively printed on Organic Tana Lawn® cotton.

Fabric measures 53" wide.  Printed on superfine 100% organic cotton lawn. Designed in UK, printed in Italy.

Sold in 1/4 meter (0.27 yards) increments. Price is for a 1/4 meter. We cut additional increments of fabric continuously.  For example, if you select 4 units (which equates to 1 meter), you will receive a single piece of fabric that is 53" wide and 1 meter long. We regret that fabric, once cut, is non-refundable.

This fabric is $38/meter or $9.50 for a quarter meter strip.
