Product Description

We collaborated with Mary on these buttons that are printed with images from the Unicorn Tapestries (1495–1505).  These iconic Middle Age tapestries were most likely designed in Paris, produced in Brussels or Liège, and owned by the La Rochefoucauld family for centuries before being purchased by John D. Rockefeller, Jr., who donated them to The Met Cloisters in NYC (our hometown!) in 1937, where they are on permanent display. The Unicorn Tapestries are considered one of the most impressive medieval artworks in existence.

Round ceramic buttons fashioned by hand into buttons by Mary & her amazing team in Cornwall, England. Two button holes have been drilled so that the buttons can be attached to any garment.  That said, wouldn't it be cool to use them as jewelry?

Care instructions: the buttons may be washed in the machine.  As an extra precaution, Mary recommends that the garment be turned inside out.

Approximately 1" diameter.

Price is for a single button.
